Alumni Research Talks 7.0

Alumni Research Talkss (ART) 7.0 was organised on 28th and 29th January, 2017. Lined up with several alumnus working in field of computational biology to cognitive computing, this edition of ART helped in connecting BITSian students with different experts in recent fields of computer science.


Dr. Narendra Ahuja 

A Research Professor in the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Maryland. A B.E. (hons) (EEE) graduate from Bits-Pilani, 1972, he is the author of over 450 journals and conference papers. His research areas include – Machine Learning and Neuro Linguistic Programming, Pattern Recognition, Robotics etc.


Having graduated from BITS Pilani in 2016, she pursued her MS in CS from Carnegie Mellon University. Presently a software engineer at Facebook, she has also interned at Microsoft, Qubole, GoDaddy, Ludwig Maximilian University, among others. Her interests include- Computer Vision, 3D Reconstruction, Neural Networks, and Machine Learning etc.


A research scientist at Spotify and a Ph.D. candidate at University College London, he has worked in Microsoft Research, Bing and Goldman Sachs. His research interests lie at the intersection of Machine Learning, User Modelling and Personalization. His current Ph.D. research focuses on developing efficient M.L. models for user tasks and need understanding, knowledge discovery and decision optimization. He also collaborates on research related to Web Search & Information Retrieval.


Currently the Dean, Graduate Studies at Cleveland State University, his research interests are in the areas of Computer Science education and the Internet of Things. After graduating from BITS Pilani, he received his Ph.D. and MS degrees in Computer Science from the Ohio State University. His work is funded by grants from the National Science Foundation and the Cleveland Foundation.
