Alumni Research Talks (ART) 6.0 was organised on 28th and 29th January, 2017. Lined up with several alumnus working in field of computational biology to cognitive computing, this edition of ART helped in connecting BITSian students with different experts in recent fields of computer science.
Nitish Nair , a computational research scientist at Shell graduated from BITS Pilani in chemical engineering. He then obtained his MS degree from University of Illinois and finally obtained his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT).
He has worked on deterministic and stochastic simulations of systems from molecular to micro-scale level. His research area includes Carbon Nanotechnology.

Raghavendra Singh, a Research Staff Member at IBM Research, graduated from BITS Pilani in electrical engineering. He then obtained his PhD from University of Southern California.
He is currently a member of the Cognitive Computing group. His research area includes Information Theory, Signal Processing and applications in field of Neuro-Science and Transmission of Data.

Prasanta Bhattacharya, a research scientist at Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) obtained his ME degree in Software Systems from BITS Pilani in 2011. He further obtained his PhD in Information Systems from National University of Singapore (NUS).
He works in the area of computational Social Science with a special focus on Network Externalities and Computational Psycho-linguistics.
Talk Topic: "Causality research in the big data era"
Vaibhav Rajan, an assistant professor in Department of Information Systems and Analytics in National University of Singapore (NUS),graduated from BITS Pilani in computer science engineering. He then obtained his MS and PhD degree from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland .
His research interests include Machine Learning, Algorithm Design and their applications, primarily in Healthcare and Bioinformatics. He is a recipient of the ERS IASC Young Researchers Award 2014 given by European Regional Section (ERS) of the International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC).Earlier, he was a Senior Research Scientist at Xerox Research Centre India.
