Alumni Research Talks (ART) 4.0 was organised on 16th - 18th January, 2015. Sponsored by LinkedIn, this edition of ART was lined up with several alumnus working in field of embedded systems to data mining, and helped in connecting BITSian students with different experts in recent fields of computer science.
Dr. M. Baalkrishnan, professor in Computer Science Department in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, obtained his B.E.(Hons.) in Electronics & Electrical Engineering from BITS Pilani in 1977. He obtained his PhD. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 1985.
His research area includes Digital System Design, Electronic Design Automation and Embedded Systems. He is part of reputed Assistech Laboratory in IIT Delhi.

Ganesh Venkataraman , an engineering lead in Airbnb obtained dual degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering from BITS Pilani. He completed his masters from University of Iowa. He obtained his PhD. from Texas A&M University.
His research area includes ML, Data Mining, Search Quality, Personalized Search Ranking, eCommerce Fraud Detection. He has more than 10 patents in this field.

Kalapriya Kannan, a Research staff member at IBM Research, completed her M.Sc from BITS Pilani in 2000. She then completed her Masters in Software Systems from BITS Pilani in 2002. She completed her PhD in Computer Engineering from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru in 2007.
Her research area includes High Performance Systems, Cloud Computing and Emerging Network Management Framework. She has worked on virtualization techniques and Cloud tools/technologies such as Hadoop, HBase, Hive, HDFS and OOzie.

Partha Pratim Talukdar, an Assistant Professor in Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, completed his B.E in Computer Science Engineering from BITS Pilani. He further obtained his M.S and PhD. from University of Pennsylvania.
His research areas include Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Integration, and Cognitive Science. His recent research has been focused on learning and inference over graphs, automatic knowledge harvesting from web-scale datasets, temporal information processing, and neuro-semantics.
Topic: "From Big Text to Big Knowledge"
Rati Aggrawal,Technical Program Engineer at Google, graduated from BITS Pilani in 2001 from Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She completed her M.S from University of Florida, Gainesville.
Her research area includes Network Technology and Image Processing. Prior to working at Google, she has worked at Apple, Texas Instruments and Spirent Communications.
